Coffey’s safety performance was recognised last week when the company won three awards at the Industrial Foundation of Accident Prevention (IFAP) Safeway Awards.

The Western Australian awards recognise the safety performance of businesses that have achieved an improved Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR) or at least six months LTI free.

Coffey’s WA Environments team won the platinum award, after winning gold for the previous five years. The Geotechnics and Testing teams in WA won the gold award, both for the third consecutive year.

The awards reflected Coffey’s continued focus on improving safety performance, which saw the company’s LTIFR reduce to 0.64 at the end of the 2014 Financial Year – well below our industry benchmark. This was supported by a strong emphasis on process improvement, training and assurance auditing, as well as an improved focus on addressing lessons learned.

Of course, safety requires constant vigilance and we remain focused on continuing to improve our safety performance.

Congratulations to our WA teams.
