The Coffey-managed STAR-Ghana program has won an award. The Ghana Journalist Association has recognised STAR-Ghana for a “commitment to freedom and independence of the media, which is necessary in engendering a good climate for media practice and for building democracy.”
The program received the honorary “Companion of Press Freedom and the Defendant of Transparency and Accountability” award.
STAR-Ghana is designed to increase the influence of civil society and Parliament in the governance of public goods and service delivery. It has the ultimate goal of improving accountability and responsiveness of Ghana’s government, traditional authorities and the private sector. It is funded by the UK Department for International Development, Danida, USAID and the European Union.
