Australian Geomechanics Award 370x298Senior Principal Geotechnical Engineer Geoff Cocks and co-authors have received the 2015 Australian Geomechanics Award.

The award recognises authors of the best paper published in Australian Geomechanics, Journal of the Australian Geomechanics Society, during a calendar year and was be presented at Geoff’s local Western Australian (WA) chapter yesterday.

Coffey’s Chief Executive Officer Ron Chu congratulated Geoff and co-authors, saying that this is an example of the geotechnical thought leadership that’s embodied in Coffey’s solutions.

“We support the application of local knowledge and research – our consultants are often at the forefront of industry research,” said Ron.

The paper titled ‘The use of naturally occurring materials for pavements in Western Australia’ was published in Australian Geomechanics, Volume 50, No. 1, March 2015 – a special issue devoted to pavements in WA.

As lead author and joint winner of this prestigious award, Geoff joins the elite company of fellow Coffey practitioners and past winners Harry Poulos and Patrick Wong.

Coffey also congratulates the co-authors of this article – Ross Keeley (Main Roads WA), Colin Leek (City of Canning), Paul Foley (WML), Tom Bond WML), Andrew Cray (Golder), Philip Paige-Green (Paige-Green Consulting), Stephen Emery (Kubu Australia), Russell Clayton (GHD), Doug McInnes (Golder) and Les Marchant (Main Roads WA).
