I’m a geotechnical engineer with almost 10 years’ experience within engineering consulting. I’ve been involved in many projects across Australia and globally. My primary focus is on mine subsidence and remediation assessments and I have strong involvement in pavements, embankment design, railway engineering, foundation design and soft soils.
Being based in Newcastle, Australia means that mining has been a huge influence in the projects I’ve worked on. I’ve been heavily involved in 3D numerical modelling to assess the stability of the mine workings and reduce the amount of grouting required while also providing more certainty in the amount of subsidence possible before or after grouting.
Working for Coffey enables me to push the boundaries by changing the direction for assessment of mine workings in and around Newcastle. It allows smarter, more efficient solutions for remediation that balance innovation with our client’s commercial constraints - providing confidence to the Mine Subsidence Board as well as developers around Newcastle.
Inner city urban renewal is the talk of the town, particularly in the City of Newcastle in New South Wales. But mine subsidence has all but stalled the rejuvenation of this undermined city – that is until recently.
