I am a Principal Engineering Geologist and lead our Engineering Geology and Rope Access Team. I have 24 years of experience across research and development and consulting engineering. I’ve provided specialist advice to government bodies, local authorities, infrastructure owners, consultants, contractors, developers, and private clients. My principal areas of interest and expertise include slope engineering, geotechnical and geological mapping, site investigation, digital terrain model hazard assessment, air photo interpretation, rock mass characterisation and foundations on rock.
I've worked on projects across the UK, and internationally in Australia and the Middle East. Working across borders like this involves significant collaboration with colleagues, clients and contractors to investigate problems and provide technically innovative solutions which are also pragmatic and effective. Projects I’ve led include the development of a GIS based Landslide Susceptibility assessment system for Network Rail, A830 Arisaig Road Improvements Scheme rock slope design for Highland Council and the Forestry Commission Steep Slope Assessment of 100 sites.
I find it particularly challenging and rewarding being able to provide clients with pragmatic and technically robust solutions to their problems. This is enhanced by being able to draw on and integrate the knowledge derived from the thorough and practical inspection, assessment, analysis and design practices here at Coffey – not to mention our research and development work.
