Coffey developed a data management solution that could be easily shared among users and therefore assisted in facilitating the development of the Minas Rio project.
The Espinhaço Institute, was undertaking a socioeconomic research report for the Anglo American Minas-Rio project in Minas Gerais, Brazil. They needed a way to manage, and share the large quantity of spacial data being generated.
The project was commissioned by the Espinhaço Institute in conjunction with Anglo American’s iron ore division, the municipalities of Conceição do Mato Dentro, Alvorada de Minas and Dom Joaquim.
Coffey designed a solution that allowed the Espinhaço Institute and the municipalities to plan, manage and monitor geographical information associated with the Minas-Rio project. This included environment, health, planning, registration, security, education, tourism, culture and socioeconomics and satellite image data.
We delivered a GIS database solution that ensured environmental and socioeconomic data was manageable and easily shared. We also trained users on the system, and continue to provide technical support for the system.
The timely delivery of our solution ensured the mining project could advance through to the next stage without interruption.
