Coffey provided around the clock testing capability to minimise local traffic interruptions and supply data to our client accurately and efficiently.
Set apart from the five other projects that make up the Western Ring Route, this 2km section of motorway is to be widened in both directions, with improvements to motorway ramps.
The St Lukes Road overbridge spanning the motorway will also be widened to improve pedestrian access and traffic flow.
Time was critical to the success of this project.
The scheduled construction of the retaining wall next to St Lukes Road Bridge was dependent on the quick turnaround of large volumes of tests to meet strict specifications. Our testing team was called on to deliver results accurately and efficiently to help meet these tight project deadlines.
We were required to work with multiple contractors on site to ensure deadlines were met and the program of works stayed on schedule.
Our team has previously worked on the SH16 Causeway Upgrade, giving our client confidence in our ability to meet the challenges at St Lukes Road.
Our key capabilities included the delivery of a range of tests, and our ability to sign reports off immediately with extra IANZ status signatories. We also utilised our client’s onsite management system to allow upload of results directly into their database so they could extract information quickly and efficiently.
We completed testing earlier than scheduled, lessening the effect of night work to surrounding residential properties.
We minimised delays to work by providing engineers with contact details for our onsite test staff who were available around the clock. This allowed pre-scheduling of tests with us directly, and reduced wait time.
Our efficiency enabled Leighton to proceed quickly with their project. We delivered results ahead of schedule, improving efficiency and reducing client costs.
Ultimately, this new alignment and layout will improve traffic use of the Waterview Tunnels and SH16 Causeway.
