Australia is an important economic partner for Vanuatu. Australia supports Vanuatu’s development, aligning with the country’s National Sustainable Development Plan 2016-2030, through the Australia Awards scholarships program.

Australia Awards – Vanuatu is designed to promote knowledge, leadership and enduring ties between Australia and Vanuatu. It aims to build knowledge and skills to address Vanuatu’s economic and development challenges through international scholarships to Australia.

Solution

Coffey manages the Australia Awards – Vanuatu program on behalf of the Australian Government. These prestigious Awards offer the next generation of leaders in Vanuatu opportunities to acquire professional and technical knowledge and skills relevant to the priorities of the Government of Vanuatu. The program fosters people-to-people links between Australia and Vanuatu and ensures opportunities are provided for women, people with disabilities and people from remote locations. The Awards program also supports alumni to use their skills, knowledge and networks to drive change and innovation when they return home.

Result

Through the Australia Awards Scholarships, recipients are equipped with the knowledge and skills to make a difference to the development goals of Vanuatu. Australia Awards – Vanuatu strongly encourages women and Ni-Vanuatu citizens with a disability, and those from regional areas of Vanuatu are encouraged to apply.
