I’m an Associate Geotechnical Engineer with 20 years’ experience in civil engineering and environmental geotechnics. I have particular skills in containment engineering systems and geosynthetics as applied to landfills, tailings lagoons and heap leach pads. I also have experience with the use and testing of geosynthetics and the development of novel steepwall lining systems for landfills.
I collaborate closely with colleagues worldwide across Coffey. I’ve been approved by the Environmental Protection Agency, Victoria as part of the expert support team to one of Coffey’s Environmental Auditors for containment engineering and geosynthetic related issues.
I act as a focus for containment engineering across Coffey globally and am UK representative on the International Geosynthetics Society’s Technical Committee – Barriers (TC-B). My recent projects include work in the Middle East, Australia, Africa and the UK.
I enjoy helping our clients in shaping and framing the challenges they face, especially when this means that what starts out as ‘merely’ a problem to be solved or risk to be managed becomes an exciting opportunity to be exploited. It’s particularly fun to help Coffey’s team become an integral part of the client’s team - by understanding where our client is standing and aiming to go, then finding the smartest way to get there.
