Contributing to the Environment and Development
Within its life cycle, a resource, industrial or infrastructure project must negotiate social, environmental, safety and political cross-currents at many levels within societies and sometimes between cultures.
Coffey Environments practise the following principles that are needed to guide a development project through these complexities:
- respect for social diversity
- attention to the communication barriers that push diversity to misunderstanding and conflict
- focus on the dilemmas that underlie fundamental differences of opinion and on the tough choices that these dilemmas present
- faith in the project but acceptance of the legitimacy of the views of others
- patience to allow the people who matter to a project to reach their own, informed views
- responsibility to solve challenges and improve the lives of communities.
