Responsible for the overall management of the company’s UK operations, Marc is also part of the Coffey Geotechnics global management team responsible for implementing the company’s international strategy for growth.
Having worked with Coffey in Australia for five years most recently as General Manager of Technical Operations, Marc’s immediate plans are to focus on completing the integration of the UK team with a long term focus on positioning the business as a specialist provider of quality ground engineering consulting services in the region.
“I look forward to meeting with everyone face to face and using this opportunity to combine my industry and management experience to help strengthen our UK team,” said Marc.
Marc acknowledges the acquisition of Webber Associates in November last year was a significant strategic development for Coffey Geotechnics in the UK.
“Webber Associates is a focused geotechnical design group, primarily servicing the construction sector, which has brought another level of expertise in the area of D&C contracts and adding further value to our spread of specialist capabilities for our clients. These capabilities are closely aligned to much of the work carried out by Coffey Geotechnics in Australia,” said Marc.
Chief executive officer of Coffey Geotechnics Matt Thomas said: “We have spent considerable time and resources establishing a platform for growth in the UK market and we are now ready to leverage our specialist knowledge into projects across the country and abroad. Marc brings a wealth of experience from his UK background along with considerable knowledge of Australian and African markets and is uniquely placed, given his time working for both contractors and consultants alike. He understands what it takes to stand in the space of civil contractors and this will add significant value to our clients as well as Coffey Geotechnics.”
Originally from Southampton, but living in West Yorkshire before emigrating in 1996, Marc says he looks forward to re-locating back to the UK with his family and catching up with former colleagues and associates.
Marc is a Chartered Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers, Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Australia and was the National Chairman of the Australian Geomechanics Society in 2006 – 2007. He is also a Senior Principal Geotechnical Engineer, working in areas mainly associated with retaining walls, deep foundations and ground improvement.
Marc commences his role on 9 June 2008.
