From rebuilding schools in tsunami-affected Indonesia to providing training to Pacific Island policing agencies, we have strong links across the Asia-Pacific region, a commitment that has endured 40 years of natural disasters, political change and development.
We have over 400 staff managing and implementing long term projects across the Asia-Pacific, with key activities in Vietnam, Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and Cambodia. We also implement numerous short-term projects on behalf of our clients, providing targeted assistance in the areas of health, governance, monitoring and evaluation and education.
Our expertise is as diverse as our activities. On any given day we are working on behalf of our clients on programs to deliver training to midwives in Indonesia - to providing grants to pro-poor business initiatives in Tonga – to supporting government agencies in Papua New Guinea to develop and implement accountable policies, plans and systems.
The lasting impacts of our activities can be seen in new institutions such as the creation of Indonesia’s National Training Body, which works to certify training courses across Indonesia, providing opportunities for Indonesians to work globally. In the Philippines, our anti-corruption efforts, including the creation of an anti-corruption court, have significantly improved the capacity of government agencies in the areas of corruption prosecution and prevention.
In Indonesia, we have also helped to vastly improve neonatal maternal health statistics in some of the poorest regions and helped to improve school facilities in earthquake-affected Nias. In all that we do, we are guided by our commitment and our clients’ commitment to the UN Millennium Development Goals to provide greater opportunities for vulnerable communities across the region.
