Coffey offers Realistic Simulation to the Mining Industry

(28 March 2011) Dr. Stephan Arndt and Dr. Brent Fillery have recently joined Coffey Mining, bringing with them proven experience in advanced numerical modelling solutions for the mining industry. Using the world’s leading nonlinear finite element analysis software, Abaqus FEA from Simulia, the Dassault Systèmes brand for realistic simulation, Coffey can now offer virtual simulation solutions to the industry to achieve the highest level of detail, accuracy and performance.

Australian Geotechnical Engineering Degree now Accredited

(24 February 2011) Potential geotechnical engineers now have a direct career path available to them in Australia.

The Bachelor of Engineering (Geotechnical) has recently been fully accredited by Engineers Australia. Offered by the University of Tasmania (UTas), the course has been established as a joint initiative with Coffey subsidiary, Coffey Mining, who are providing lecturers and course development advice. UTas Engineering and Earth Sciences staff are also involved in lecturing for the course.

Museum of Old and New Art Opens

(1 February 2011, Hobart, Tasmania) Australia’s largest private museum, the spectacular $75 million Museum of Old and New Art (MONA), was officially opened last week. The development is quite unlike any Australia has known – it is a three-level subterranean concrete and corten steel development with over 6,000 square metres of gallery space.
