Dave will work alongside Neville Saunderson, Coffey International Development’s PNG country manager. Neville manages Coffey International Development projects and people in PNG, on behalf of its major client AusAID. Dave will head Coffey’s other PNG operations and client services. He will be responsible for growing and developing Coffey services in PNG such as Coffey Environments, Coffey Geotechnics, Coffey Projects and Coffey Commercial Advisory. Both roles will work closely together to ensure smooth relationships between all service lines and Coffey clients.
Dave has extensive experience working in PNG. His most recent appointment was as the project director for Coffey’s environmental role to deliver the pre-construction surveys for the onshore pipeline component of the PNG LNG Project. This work is being undertaken by EPC contractor, Spiecapag Niugini Ltd.
Coffey regional manager, Asia Pacific, Matt Thomas, said: “I congratulate Dave on his recent appointment as Coffey’s PNG country manager. His 25 years of project management and property consultancy experience combined with his PNG knowledge makes Dave an excellent candidate to grow the Coffey business in this unique location.
“Dave’s appointment will drive the growth of Coffey services outside the international development sector and ensure that Coffey’s activities in PNG are properly coordinated and that our people and our clients continue to be well looked after.”
Dave, commenting on his appointment, said he was looking forward to building on the strong foundation that Coffey had already established in PNG.
“Coffey undertook its first assignment in PNG in 1966, since then we have expanded our specialist knowledge and service offerings to encompass the full project lifecycle from concept to completion. I am privileged to be continuing to support the development of the strong and productive relationships that Coffey has with clients, government departments, local organisations and the community. Coffey takes extreme pride in understanding PNG’s culture and environment and I look forward to enhancing that understanding.”
Prior to joining Coffey in 2002, Dave managed and owned Project Management and Property Consultancy businesses in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. He has a Masters in Business Administration from Deakin University, Victoria, is a Registered Project Director with the Australian Institute of Project Management and is an Associate Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management.
Coffey has a long-held commitment to supporting the development of PNG’s oil and gas, mining, health and education sectors, as well as public sector reform and economic development activities.
Coffey is currently working on a range of projects including the nation building PNG LNG. Coffey also manages several important development programs including the Incentive Fund, Economic and Public Sector Program, Sub-National Strategy, Basic Education Development Project and the Education Capacity Building Program.
