Coffey managing director Roger Olds said: “Despite being a young brand, Coffey Rail brings over 20 years’ rail industry experience to Coffey, building on the expertise and reputation of the former Asia Pacific Rail business and its people, which became the foundations of Coffey Rail in March 2009.
“The rail industry in Australia is rapidly evolving to support the development and growth of local communities and to address challenges such as climate change, energy security and urban congestion. Coffey Rail is well positioned to help our clients to responsibly develop rail infrastructure that will improve the lives of communities.”
Over the past year, Coffey Rail has continued to grow its team and range of service offerings, such as design and management of level crossing upgrades, in response to a changing market and clients’ demand for effective, sustainable solutions to help move the industry forward.
John Wertheimer, Coffey Rail’s global leader, said: “We have grown and enhanced our specialist capabilities in design and management of level crossing upgrades to help our clients address increasing level crossing safety requirements. Our team has completed over 150 level crossing designs in the past two years, developing industry best practices to rapidly deploy tailored, cost effective solutions to address our clients’ needs.”
John said Coffey Rail had made a considerable investment on the development of one of the most sought-after consultant signalling design capabilities in the country and its team was proud to have been trusted by the Victorian Government to deliver high profile projects.
“We have successfully delivered the Diamond Creek Re-signalling Scheme in Victoria, which will improve safety of the rail infrastructure for pedestrians, rail traffic and road users, and we are now working full-speed to deliver the Hurstbridge Line Upgrade Project, one of the largest signalling projects in the Melbourne metropolitan network in recent times.”
Looking towards the future to support its growth plans, Coffey Rail has recently added some international experience to its team, bringing new skills and expertise to the Australian market, including ERTMS (European Rail Traffic Management System) and cab signalling.
Coffey Rail has also extended its footprint from Victoria and Tasmania to South Australia, New South Wales and New Zealand, and is currently undertaking projects for clients such as the Australian Rail Track Corporation, TransAdelaide and clients in the resources sector.
