Dr Ben Rotter Recognised as Young Professional of the Year by International Association of Hydrogeologists
(19 April 2011) Dr Ben Rotter, Groundwater Engineer at Coffey Geotechnics, was recognised by the International Association of Hydrogeologists as the New South Wales Young Professional 2011.
The award is made to the outstanding young hydrogeologist professional with up to five years of post graduate experience.
Dr Rotter was recognised for his post graduate groundwater expertise, his strong contribution to project teamwork and interest in advancing the state of knowledge within the industry.
On the award, Coffey Geotechnics’ Senior Principal, and Chairman of Coffey’s Council of Senior Principals, Mr Ross Best said: “We are proud of Dr Rotter’s achievements – he has shown strong leadership in delivering hydrogeological services, including groundwater assessments to major projects such as the Finucane Island port facilities and Cowal Gold Mine.”
Dr Rotter has developed new groundwater tools, demonstrated ongoing professional development and a commitment to furthering industry knowledge through regular papers and involvement in industry bodies including the Australian Geomechanics Society. His papers have been published in Water Resources Research, Journal of Hydrology, Bioresource Technology and Transport in Porous Media.
Dr Rotter has a PhD from the University of Edinburgh in modelling bioremediation of uranium contaminated aquifers. He holds a degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering (Honours).
