(30 June 2011) Coffey International Limited Managing Director John Douglas has been recognised as one of Australia’s most influential engineers.

Engineers Australia released their annual list of Australia’s most influential engineers, naming John Douglas in the Consulting category. This group was assessed on criteria including present influence in engineering, size of the organisation, revenue and staff numbers.

Mr Douglas holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering with First Class Honours from the University of Adelaide and an MBA from London Business School and is a civil engineer with more than 25 years experience in engineering, consulting and senior management roles.

Before joining Coffey on 1 March 2011, he worked with Boral Limited for 15 years where he demonstrated strong leadership capabilities in highly competitive markets. He was appointed Executive General Manager of Boral’s Australian Construction Materials business in 2004. In this role, he managed a business with a turnover of more than $2.0 billion spread across four business streams with more than 430 sites and 7,000 employees.

“I’m honoured to be named as one of Australia’s most influential engineers,” said John. “My inclusion is also testament to Coffey – it is a highly respected specialist engineering consultancy. Having completed my first strategic review of the Company, I am now extremely confident in its future growth”.

John Douglas recently released his strategy for Coffey, which is to focus on its core disciplines of geosciences and international development, along with a scaled-down project management service.
