Roger Olds elected as Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering
(19 November 2010) Coffey International Limited’s managing director, Mr Roger Olds, was elected as a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE). Mr Olds was elected in recognition of his achievements as one of Australia’s leading technical business people who is passionate about delivering outcomes for the profession and the community it serves.
On 13 November 2010 Academy President Professor Robin Batterham AO FREng FAA FTSE welcomed the 2010 elected Fellows at the Academy’s Annual General Meeting.
Professor Batterham reported Mr Olds’ talent and experience would add substantially to the Academy’s capacity to provide sound advice on policy in relation to technological sciences issues to governments in Australia.
Mr Olds said he was honoured to be part of the ATSE Fellowship.
“The ATSE offers an opportunity to mix with some of the world’s leading thinkers in technology, engineering and has an important place in working with the Australian government to make a difference.”
“I look forward to discussing issues such as world food security and our changing environment which Coffey has a lot of specialist knowledge on from around the globe”.
The prestigious ATSE Fellowship consists of approximately 800 outstanding technology and research leaders who are elected in recognition of their impact and excellence of achievement in the key areas of applied physical science and technology, biological science and technology, engineering, information technology and architecture. Election to Fellow of the ATSE is by peer nomination which is then validated against ATSE criteria.
Mr Olds joins Coffey Geotechnic’s senior principal and renowned engineer, Professor Harry Poulos. Harry is also an ATSE Fellow having been elected in 1996 for his ground-breaking research and practice in foundation engineering, especially pile foundation analysis and design.
